Funding

Funds for both the Buddha Academy Boarding School and Sherpa School are provided entirely from individual sponsors of children and miscellaneous international donations.

Neither school receives any Government grant. Both schools have a continuous flow of requests coming for admission for both day and boarding places.

In the case of the Buddha Academy Boarding School we believe this can be attributed firstly to their good academic performances and secondly to the increased number of displaced rural families that have migrated to the city.

Few can afford to properly care for their children let alone provide them with even a basic education. Hundreds of rural schools still remain closed despite the present ceasefire.

In the case of the Sherpa School it is not only the need for schooling coupled with extreme poverty that brings children to the door but also the fact that there are no other schools in the district that take children from Kindergarten age.

Pupils are all local children and the school is much respected throughout the district.

The waiting list is huge (500). We need to expand to take more children. Indeed at the moment we are able to build a Girl’s Boarding House to take an additional 54 children.

Firstly, however, we have to find sponsors for those children presently without sponsorship.

Our Emergency Fund is almost depleted and more donations are urgently needed.

The steeply spiralling cost of goods and general inflation throughout Nepal make it a constant struggle to keep going. But we are determined to do so – and with your help we can, and will!

Funds are sent directly from England to the bank accounts of either BABS or the Sherpa School in Nepal and as directed by the donors.

Please note that 100% of donations are sent to Nepal without deduction.
