The Buddha Memorial Children's Home Trust

We aim to provide a practical, long term solution to the plight of destitute, orphaned, abandoned and underprivileged children in Nepal, through our support of two wonderful institutions.

The Buddha Academy Boarding School in Jorpati near Kathmandu, and the Sherpa School in Bampti Bandhar in Eastern Nepal provide loving and disciplined homes and a sound all-round education for these deprived children, regardless of religion or culture.

At present they are caring for over 760 children of whom 75% come from the remote and inaccessible mountainous northern regions.

Most, when they arrive, are severely malnourished, and some are ill.

The majority are orphans or come from broken or destitute families and, in some cases, suffer symptoms of physical and mental abnormality.

We give them a chance to live like normal children, in a secure environment, with the opportunity to build a happy and fulfilling future.

Some of our children go on to further education, others less academically able are given vocational training. All will have their dignity restored, will be able to support their families, and are encouraged to go back into their communities and share the knowledge they have acquired.

The steeply spiraling cost of goods and general inflation in Nepal make it a constant struggle to keep our two schools going.

Now just take a few minutes to read about these childrens’ lives, and you will see what terrible odds they have to overcome, and why we are determined to carry on.

Please will you help us by sponsoring a child, or by sending a donation to one of our Funds? Details of both are found on the How to Help Us page.
